EOTD: Blurple!! Tutorial

Simple smokey "Blurple" eye

Created with NYX's Lake Moss Trio and Nude/Taupe/Dark Brown Trio

1. Prime your eyes!
2. Take Nude and cover your lid with it using a shadow brush.
3. Take Taupe with a crease brush and go in with windshield wiper motions, creating a nice shadow. This will help blend the blurple color!
4. Take an angled brush and take the "Blurple" color (shade in the middle of trio) and line your upper lash line with it.. make it thick!
5. Take Blurple with a crease brush and tap along the outer "V" of your eye. Concentrate on the very edge making it appear darker than the rest.
6. Take Nude with a shadow brush and swipe underneath your brow as a highlight.
7. Take a clean, puffy, crease/shadow brush and blend the Nude and Blurple together so they aren't so harsh.
8. Take an angled brush and dip into the Blurple.. pat on lower lash line to connect the colors together.
9. Curl and coat lashes with your favorite mascara... I used Maybelline's One By One.
10. SMILE! You're gorgeous!

I hope you enjoyed this short little tutorial! If you'd like to see a video on this look or have any requests, please let me know!!

Eyes of the Day: Blue Hue

I know, I know... blue eye shadow isn't very cool. Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid in dance, wearing bright blue eye shadow and red lipstick... classy. LOL. But I've taken a more subtle approach to this look. I was out late last night and needed to wake up and look refreshed, even though I'm totally not!! The shade I have on my lids isn't blue in fact... it's a pearly white hue from Wet N Wild's trio....(the one with the brown and pink..sorry I don't know the names!) It goes on a little blue for me but I like it. I first applied NYX eye shadow base in white... then dusted the pearly white color over it and around my eyes to give it a glowy look. I did my regular lash routine... curl and a few coats of Lights, Camera, Lashes from Tarte. DONE!

Haul: Forever 21 & Ulta

So.... I've been meaning to post this but I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time.  These are purchases I made a while ago.  I wanted to share what I got because I think they were really good deals!

First... Forever 21!  I'm not a huge F21 fan but their jewelry is cute and cheap and hey, I'm cute and cheap too! =)

The big trend out right now is feathers...in your hair, on your head and on your ears! So I saw this 3 pack of feather earrings and HAD to buy them... only $3.80! Brown, pink and white feathers! So cute!

The next thing I bought was this set of bracelets. I'm big into the look of pearls because I think it's a classic look. I just liked the way these looked together. They aren't attached so you can mix and match what you want!  Again... $3.80!

This purchase was probably my favorite! I don't know why I like the look of a ship anchor, but I do! This is super cute and not too busy and it's a long necklace but not too long. How much you ask? $3.80!! WHAT?!  Yup, that's right.

Next I want to talk about my Ulta purchase.  I heard that all of their NYX products were buy one and get one half off so I had to take part!  I've really been wanting to try the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils so I ordered 4 of them! They are normally $4.50 a piece... so it's like I bought 3 and got the 4th one free! One thing I LOVE about ordering on ulta.com is that you get to choose free samples to go along with your purchase!

The colors I picked for my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils were: Horse Radish (light green), Iced Mocha (light brown), Cottage Cheese (shimmery white) and Strawberry Milk (light pink).

I love using the eye pencils before putting on shadow, kind of like a primer but with color! I've noticed that it makes my shadow last longer throughout the day and it really holds the color.  I'm completely satisfied with them! Love them! I tried the sample of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and thought it was nice. It's a little greasy but it made my skin feel smooth instantly. I liked it but I wouldn't purchase it. I can't say that I've tried the other samples yet but I look forward to it!

If you have questions about any of these products just comment below!

Have a great weekend!!

Eyes of the Day: Seeing Green

So, I'm starting a EOTD: Eyes of the Day!  I thought it was fitting since my blog is called HB Bright Eyes... only makes sense, right??  =)

I LOVE trying out different colors for my eyes and today I really stepped out of my comfort zone! I went with different shades of green! Layering the colors on top of each other really makes a difference and I just loved the way this turned out!

First I used my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Horseradish...love it.  I applied it directly to my lid, up to the crease and blended it out with my Sigma E25 Blending Brush ! Then I put a light, frosty green color on my inner lid. I'm not sure of the color but it's in my E.L.F. Pro Eyeshadow Palette and then a darker, aqua - green color (from the same palette) in the crease and outer edge of my lid. I then added my highlight color on my brow bone. I used my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (funny) and then blended EVERYTHING together!

I know explaining it in words is a little weird and that I should make a video, right?! Well, I'm trying to get up the courage to do so!  I think after I watched  my friend Edith in her video about Body Image on her YouTube Channel I may have worked up the nerve! My son is gone this weekend with his dad so I have the "camcorder" to myself..LOL. We'll see how it goes! I just loved Edith's video and I really think she has the right idea about life! What an insipration!

I hope I have inspired all of you to try something different!
